Cecilia Woloch has 20 years of experience teaching poetry and creative
writing at all levels and in a variety of settings. She's taught at universities
throughout the U.S. and around the world, in both graduate and undergraduate
programs for writers, and has led writing workshops for students and teachers in
elementary and secondary schools, for youth-at risk, participants in
Elderhostel programs, employees at Disney’s Imagineering headquarters, and in prisons,
hospitals, and museums. She is also the founding director of both Summer
Poetry in Idyllwild and The Paris Poetry Workshop.
Dr. John Maguire, a colleague of
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., President Emeritus of Claremont Graduate
University, and Senior Consultant to Summer Poetry in Idyllwild, has praised her
“Whitmanesque energy” in bringing “poetry to the people” and building community.
Poet and professor David St. John has described her teaching style as “both
compassionate and rigorous.” She regularly conducts private workshops for
poets in Los Angeles and Atlanta, and is available to conduct one-day and weekend
generative workshops, as well as for one-on-one on-line mentoring.
